Factual Developer Documenation

Welcome to the factual-devdocs developer hub. You'll find comprehensive guides and documentation to help you start working with factual-devdocs as quickly as possible, as well as support if you get stuck. Let's jump right in!

Get Started

Factual has created explicit associations between national and local brands and their brick-and-mortar locations. Users can query the Places dataset explicitly by chain name or chain ID to obtain a list of stores representing that chain. Examples include Starbucks, Walgreens, and 7-Eleven.

Related holding companies and corporate entities are not included. There is no hard-and-fast definition of a chain; it may be privately held local chain with only a few stores, or a publicly held national brand with thousands of locations.

There are two chain-related attributes in Factual's core attribute set:

No. Attribute Datatype Description Example
1 chain_name String Label indicating which chain (brand or franchise) this entity is a member of Starbucks
2 chain_id String Unique ID indicating which chain (brand or franchise) this entity is a member of ab4c54c0-d68a-012e-5619-003048cad9da
